Intel has long been the market leader when it comes to processors, but its road to success was sometimes a bumpy one. In 1996 Intel was lagging behind Cyrix when it came to processor speeds – Cyrix’s 150MHz chip ran faster than Intel’s 200MHz Pentium. It also cost a lot less. Intel needed to act fast to regain the lead. We might know now how this ended, but click the image below to see how it played out.
